Abstract
|
|
|
Because of its safety, ultrasound is widely used during pregnancy to detect fetal abnormalities. With improved ultrasound equipment, imaging of a greater number of fetal abnormalities has become possible.
Congenital duodenal atresia is a relatively rare lesion, occuring in one of 6,000 births and results in high mortality during the neonatal period. It is the one amendable to successful surgical correction and has good prognosis by early
treatment.
The
following factors have significant influence on prognosis in congenital duodenal atresia : prematurity, combined abnormalities and nutrition.
A case of congenital dudenal atresia diagnosed by ultrasonography prenatally in Soon-chunhyang university hospital at May 1993. We present a case of congenital duodenal atresia diagnosed by ultrasonography at 36 weeks gestational age and operated
on the
5th day after Cesarean delivery with a brief of the literature.
